On Tuesday 21 March in Athens, Wattcrop was named Green Start-up of the Year at this year’s GREEN BRAND AWARDS, organised by Boussias Events.
This award comes as a culmination of the systematic work and significant growth the company has achieved in the renewable energy sector since 2019. Wattcrop has a portfolio of over 1.2GW generation and 700MW storage projects under development and is a major player in the Greek renewable energy market. The projected value of the portfolio in today’s terms will exceed EUR1.2 billion after construction.
Wattcrop, as a successful Greek startup, based in Ptolemaida, Western Greece, actively supports decentralization, adopts strict ESG and environmental protection criteria, embraces digitalization and creates new project development tools. Most importantly, it has managed to shape best practices in the sector and raise critical issues, radically changing the current methods of RES project development in Greece.
This success became evident, following the acquisition of a majority stake in the company by the global financial group Macquarie, which decided to invest in Wattcrop as a strategic investor.
Aided by our strong online presence and operations, and the excellent track record of our partners, we aspire to be an example emulated, not only by companies in our sector but also by other startups with the vision to make our world a better place.
The statements of Mr. Ypatios Moysiadis
“We are proud of our progress and the recognition our company is receiving in the Greek market. We will keep working hard to push the boundaries of what is possible in the renewable energy sector,” said Ypatios Moysiadis, CEO of Wattcrop. “We are optimistic about the future and look forward to continuing our mission to make a meaningful contribution to the green transition. This success would not be possible without the support of our people who work with dedication and enthusiasm to achieve the company’s vision and goals.”
